This course is designed to provide you with an inexpensive and effective raku kiln, made by your own  hands. The kiln will be tested out during the course and light enough to fit in the boot of your car to take home. The kiln will be mad\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003eMaterials for the kiln are approximately €260 (excluding the raku burner which you need not buy till after the course). You can buy your own materials according to a shopping list, or arrange with Kinsale Pottery to buy them for you in the run-up to the course. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003eThings you will need:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWire mesh\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSet of 25-30 ceramic buttons supplied free from Kinsale Pottery\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCeramic Fibre blanket\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e20ft of Nichrome Wire (this doesn't melt at high temperatures) -\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e1 x 14 inch kiln shelf and some 6 inch props\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003eDuring the weekend, you will construct a kiln approximately 24 inches deep and 24 inches diameter (top loading), learn to make raku glazes, and test-fire your raku kiln with a selection of pre-made bisque pieces.
